If you’ve got a question, you might find the answer here. If not, please give us a call on 1300 054 881 so we can help you.

What type of vessels do Boating West offer?

We have a large variety of vessels, ranging from our 4 metre Tinny to our 6m Centre Cab. All vessels come on a trailer, ready to tow away. We can also provide a launch and retrieve service for you at one of our nominated boat ramps/beaches. All vessels are equipped with safety equipment.

Is there an on water safety briefing?

Yes. Before taking the vessel, we will go through the on water safety briefing to ensure you feel comfortable with all aspects of the vessel.

What are the pick up and drop off times?

If we launch the boat for you – the earliest you can be on the water is 6am and you need to be back to the boat ramp/beach by 4pm.

If you pick the boat up yourself – you can take the boat at 6am and have it back to us by 5pm.

Can I pick up the vessel the night before my hire?

In some cases this is possible. Talk to us before your hire and we will do our best to help you out.

Can I get the boat delivered to me?

Yes, when possible. If you wish to have your boat delivered somewhere other than our designated ramps/beaches, we can do this at an additional cost.

What if there is bad weather on the day of my hire?

We want you to be safe and have an enjoyable day out on the water so if conditions are deemed unsuitable, your boat hire may be postponed until a later date.

Do I need a skipper’s ticket or boat licence?

Yes. You need a skipper’s ticket or boat licence to hire any of our vessels. We accept all Australian boat licences and valid international boat licences. Obtaining a skipper’s ticket in WA takes about 3 hours and involves a theory component and practical.

Can you provide a skipper?

Yes, there are times when we can provide you with a skipper at an additional cost.

Do you need a fishing license?

You do need a fishing license to fish in WA. You can obtain one from the Fisheries Department or go online – www.fish.wa.gov.au

Are there life-jackets for the kids?

Yes. We will provide life-jackets on request for kids. Please let us know at the time of your booking. Please note that kids under 12 years of age are required by law to wear a life-jacket at all times.

Can I get additional equipment?

Yes. We have a range of equipment available for hire.

What is the cancellation policy?

Please refer to our Hire Terms and Conditions.

What about the fuel cost?

All vessels come with a full tank of fuel and the fuel must be replaced at the end of your hire. If you tow away the vessel yourself, it is your responsibility to replace the fuel before returning the vessel. If you have a walk on/walk off hire, we will top up the fuel for you. Fuel is charged as per the pump price on the day and this will be charged to your credit card. In some cases, you may ask to go with us and pay for the fuel directly.

What about a security bond?

The hirer must leave a bond. The amount will vary depending on the vessel. The hirer is responsible for any damage that occurs to the vessel whilst out on hire. The bond can be held on a credit card. The bond will be returned at the end of the hire, provided the vessel is returned on time, with a full tank of fuel and is not damaged in any way. If pre-authorisation on a credit card was used, banks generally take 3-5 working days to release funds. Any damage to the trailer or vessel will be paid out of the bond.

How do I book?

You can either book online or call us at one of our locations. All you need is a current skipper’s ticket or boat licence and your credit card details. A deposit will be taken at the time of your booking. After your details are in the system, we will send you an e-mail confirming your hire.
