Our 4m Aluminium Dinghies don’t require a skippers ticket/boat licence! However we do need to see a form of ID (drivers licence, passport or proof of age card) before the hire can commence.
If you don’t have a boat licence you will need to select our launch and retrieve option at checkout, as one of our qualified staff members will provide training on how to operate the boat at handover. The staff member will then stay with you until you are confident in operating the boat.
-
If you have a boat licence you can pick the boat up from our Falcon (Mandurah) location.
If you don’t have a boat licence, or you would prefer us to get the boat in and out of the water for you, please select our launch and retrieve option at checkout. This can be done from most public boat ramps and includes us cleaning the boat and arranging refuelling (fuel at your cost).
If you don’t see the boat ramp you wish to launch from as an option, please contact our friendly staff for more assistance.

At Boating West, your safety is our number one priority. If the weather is deemed to be too windy and unsafe, we will cancel your hire and offer to reschedule (where possible) or refund you.
Rain alone does not make boating unsafe, so we do not cancel hires due to rain. As with any outdoor activity, we recommend checking the forecast before your hire and bringing appropriate wet weather clothing if showers are expected.
-
You absolutely can! We provide a small esky that can be used for food and drinks or fishing, and you’re welcome to bring your own as well.
Please note, the skipper must be free of alcohol and prohibited drugs when operating the boat. Staff have the authority to refuse hire where a person appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of vessel handover. If a major incident occurs you will be asked to undertake a drug and alcohol test upon arrival back at the jetty.
-
Dogs will be considered on a case-by-case basis for these boats. Please contact our friendly team to discuss prior to hiring to ensure no disappointments on the day of hire.
-
Yes, we take a $300 security bond on the day of hire. This will be pre-authorised against your card and will be returned within 48hrs of the end of your hire, provided the boat has been returned with no damage.
